Requirements To Open A Home Daycare - What Are They And How Can You Meet Them
Posted on April 6, 2008 - Filed Under Home Based Business |
Before I touch upon the subject of the requirements you need to start a home daycare, let me say that I think this is a wonderful business for women who want to become independent and spend time with children. But as any business, it does require certain things. After all, parents are going to entrust you with their children for the better part of the day, so some degree of supervision by the authorities is understandable.
Requirements for a home daycare differ from one state to the next and even from one county or city to the other. However, there are certain things which apply generally:
1. Fire department’s license — Every day care center, like any business, needs a fire department’s license. This is something which is usually easy and cheap to acquire. Just check at your local administration center.
2. Business license — Any business requires a license. Again, this is something which is easily attainable and costs very little.
Possible additional requirements for a day care:
1. Diploma — In some states, you need some sort of diploma to open and run a home daycare center. This usually depends on the number of children that you plan to have in your daycare.
2. First aid qualification — You need a first aid kit in your daycare, and may be required to attend some first aid course. This course is usually a few hours long and is something which is worth while to know regardless.
You should check at your local administration center to see exactly what are the local requirement to open a daycare center.
